Ashley Aucoin

Ashley Aucoin holds her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS, and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. She is licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Ashley has been practicing in the Houma area since May 2008, and began at The Center for Pediatric Therapy in September 2008. She is currently practicing at our Thibodaux and Houma clinics as well as an early intervention Early Steps provider in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes.

Ashley enjoys providing physical therapy services to children and adolescents (birth-21 years) focusing on strengthening, endurance, coordination, balance, gait training, and gross motor skill development in children with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Spina Bifida, neurological deficits, orthopedic impairments, and developmental delays. She has experience with using the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) as a standardized assessment test to measure progress in children with Cerebral Palsy, Bruininks-Oseretky Test of Motor Proficiency (BOT-2) for children ages 4-21, and the Peabody Developmental Motor Scale for gross and fine motor skills in children birth – 6 years old. Ashley has completed additional education for the following: evaluating & treating torticollis, pediatric toe walking, kinesiology taping in pediatrics, and pediatric myofascial release. She is proficient with working with local durable medical equipment providers to assess children for wheelchairs, gait trainers, and other adaptive equipment that may be appropriate for your child. Ashley is also competent with assessment and fitting for orthotics.

Ashley resides in Houma with her husband and two children.
